Boulder's Paradise: CANOAS (Cundinamarca)

A few kilometers south from Bogotá you can find this great place, where you can practice as much bouldering as you like. With, still, many boulders to explore, Canoas offers boulder problems for everyone in all grades and it’s a safe place. The bravest ones will find a lot of Tsunamis and great altitude boulders.

How to get there:

By car: you drive along the Carrera 30 (also known as Avda. NQS) heading south. This main road then becomes the Autopista Sur which crosses the town of Soacha, via Melgar. Ten minutes after you´ve crossed Soacha you will take the detour to Mosquera-Bogotá-Calle 80 (the central one). Further ahead you will see a sign indicating you are on the way “Mosquera-Mondoñedo”, there you will be able to see the boulders. After crossing Bogotá´s River (Río Bogotá) and under an old, abandoned bridge, you will find, on the left hand side, an entrance to an uncovered road that leads to a house where you can park your car and enter to the Reserve.

By bus: take the Transmilenio route that goes to the Portal del Sur in Bogotá. You get out from the Portal and cross the footbridge that is on the right hand of the way to Soacha (going south) and then take the bus that leads to Sibaté, you get off on the main road and keep walking on the road that leads to Melgar until you get to the detour “Calle80-Mondoñedo”- Walk on this road for about 2 kms and you will see the boulders and a house on your left. There there´s a watchman that will let you in.

Recommendations:

Bring a crash pad, loads of chalk, brushes and some cleaning elements if you want to explore new areas.
Do not damage the Pictograms.
Ask permission to the watchman of Invias to enter the park, he never has any problem letting you in.
You can leave a tip to the watchman for taking care of your car.
Take some food and water with you, because you won't find any nearby.
